How to Register for Courses
How to Register for Courses
Learn what you need to know about class prerequisites and corequisites at Madison College.
Before you register for any Madison College class, ask yourself:
- Do I need this class?
- Do I meet the requirements to take it?
Program students can run their degree progress report to find out if they need a class. Prerequisites are requirements you must meet to take certain classes.
How do you know what’s required?
- Is there a co-requisite, a course you would take at the same time?
- Do you need to be enrolled in a degree program to take the course?
When it comes to figuring out if you meet the pre-requisites for a class, read the entire class description and then think about what it requires:
- Are its requirements joined by the words “and” or “or”?
- When requirements are joined by the word “and”, you MUST meet all the pre-requisites BEFORE you can enroll.
- If the requirements are joined by the word “or”, like a test score or a class, you only need to meet one of them.
